(More customer reviews)I bought these elsewhere on sale based on the fact that they carry the S&W logo - I have other duty equipment that is S&W and it has held up to the name. I recieved the boots and thought that they were pretty great, they looked decent, were lightweight and wore like a sturdy sneaker / hiker. That was within the first few weeks. After about 3 months the boots seemed overly broken-in. I had to pull the laces super tight just to get a snug fit. What this resulted in was 1. the lace part was snug, while the toe area stayed regular shaped - it made the tip of my boots look like bulbs. Within the short amount of time, they looked like sweet potatoes on my feet! 2. From all the pulling, the nylon straps about half way up busted - being that this point is crucial to the wear of the boot, the left boot was now saggy while the right went from sweet potato to yam, lol. The boots are not waterproof, and make it easy to get your feet wet because the nylon on the sides goes down to the sole at some points. You would think that if you're not going to make something waterproof or resistant that for comfort they would put a small leather strip where the upper meets the sole - this would at least offer basic protection, but no. I tried to contact S&W and take them up on their 1 year warranty, but they said that it was my fault for beating them up so bad they got floppy, and then pulling the laces too tight...
I figured that this is what I get for buying cheap stuff, I never get these types of headaches from Danners or Magnums - oh well lesson learned. The good thing is that I found a cheap pair of boots similar to these, but built well. Air-Tac makes a line of sub $50 boots that are exellent. I'd look into those if looking for cheap dispatch / light duty boots.
